Trial periods

For some dogs in our care like big dogs or adult cats, you'll be able to take them home on 1-2 week trial periods. This period of time allows you to take your pet home and test him or her out, just to see if you're ready for them or if they're ready for you. The hope is that everything goes well, but if not, we totally understand, and you'll be able to bring your dog back to us. We promise we'll find them a wonderful forever home, and we can work with you to find a pet that's more suitable for you. If you find that the pet you brought home isn't the one, it'd be great if you could foster that pet until we can find a forever home for him or her just so they don't have to come back to the shelter and move around too much! Click here to learn more about fostering.

When you take your pet home on a trial period, you'll be able to bring your dog anywhere you'd like - to the beach, dog park, cat cafes, downtown. Your pet will already be fully vaccinated and spayed / neutered (with the exception of kittens who aren't ready yet - in that case, we spay / neuter them when they're of age). Please spoil your pet! If your pet has a medical emergency or problem during your trial period, please contact us so we can refer you to our veterinarian. That way, you won't have to pay any vet bills while you're on the trial period. If you go to your personal veterinarian, we may not be able to reimburse your veterinary bills.

If you have any questions or concerns about your pet, don't hesitate to contact us. We'd be happy to answer any questions you have. If you're not sure if your pet needs to go to the vet, contact us anyways as a safe measure.
