Post-Adoption Care

Thank you and congratulations for adopting from VIDA rescue! We’re excited for you to get to know your pet, and hope you will be very happy together. Here are some tips to ensure your new companion will adjust in the first couple days post-adoption.

Dogs

  • Activate your pet insurance. We will provide 30 days free with adoption :)

  • Get a pet tag with your contact information. This will be the quickest and easiest way for someone to return your pet if found.

  • Register your dog for a microchip. This will ensure your dog is linked with your contact information, and will help reunite you with your pet if ever lost.

  • Pet-proof the house. Here are some tips for dog-proofing your home.

CATS

  • Cats generally should not be left outside. If you plan to walk your cat on a harness and leash, wait a month after adoption to try this.
